An Introduction to the Art of Incense-Making

Join a workshop and learn how to make your own all-natural incense!  My workshops lead participants through the ancient art of traditional whole-herb incense-making from the gathering of ingredients to methods of burning.

Beginning with a discussion on the different kinds of incense and methods of creation, we touch on the basics of scent-mixing, and delve into the world of herbs and their amazing natural properties.  Attendees then have the opportunity to mix their own scent(s) from natural ingredients provided and may use one of a number of recipes, or create their own scent, following guidance, based on their own personal preferences. Participants will learn the different techniques for burning loose-incense, as well as the different ways to turn these mixtures into combustible incense, and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Workshops can be designed for a number of different time-frames and formats and can include the blending of 1 to 4 scents and the optional creation of an incense burner. They work as stand-alone courses or are a great addition to Music Festivals, Yoga Retreats, etc.  Due to equipment and materials, workshops are limited to 15 participants (sometimes less). Please read details for each workshop carefully, as they are usually structured around their venue and time frame.

Please Note: My workshops are designed to teach about the ART of incense-making, not the business of incense-making.  While I admire any desire you may have to go farther with your journey, I am sharing my passion for this art for your personal benefits.  My journey over the past decade has been persistent, unique and rewarding and it is that which has shaped my company.  I hope that all experiences you have with incense creation take you on your own journey (which will likewise be unique and beautiful!)  Please understand that I will not be discussing any commercial aspects of my experiences including but not limited to: my production or labour costs, marketing, wholesale suppliers, original incense recipes, and proprietary production methods.
